Ruffel Hem Skirt

I know, I know it’s technically Spring. I’m not sure where you are, but here in Northern NJ it still feels like winter. I made this wool plaid ruffle hem skirt when it actually was Winter. However, you could still wear it now considering we are hovering around the 30-40 degree mark here.

Ruffles, Ruffles, Ruffles –  Ruffles are very popular right now. My inspiration to make this skirt hit me when I spotted this ruffle hem skirt  on the J Crew website. It’s pretty similar. The only difference between this one and mine is that I skipped the pockets.  I love a good pocket, but it didn’t seem to work with this particular skirt.

I used Mccalls pattern M3830. Yes I know it’s the same one I used in the previous post. It’s a great, simple pattern that can be easily modified. I shortened view E and added the ruffle.

Here are some other ruffle skirt options.  I love this one with the vertical ruffle which is also from J Crew and on sale! This black and white one from Banana Republic is great too. The double ruffle is great.

Once the weather warms up around here I’ll have more of my own Spring ruffles to share.

On another note not only do I sew, but also I design and sell leather clutches. They come in 4 colors Red (pictured above) Gold, Navy and Black. You can shop them here, and receive 25% off your order with the code WELCOMESPRING.

Even though there is no snow on the ground it was freezing outside when we took these pictures. I hope wherever you are it’s nice and warm. Happy Spring!
