DIY Rolled Hem Napkins // Passover Place Settings

Happy Spring! I can’t believe it’s already the end of March and warm weather is on the horizon! Spring holidays are fast approaching, and I decided it was time to spruce up my holiday place setting game. So today I am going to show you how I made this cute DIY rolled hem napkin dinner napkins.

The great thing about this project is that it takes very little time and money, but can add a lot of style to your holiday table. We celebrate Passover and Easter so this is my design for a Passover place setting with my DIY rolled hem napkins. I’m going to do a similar post for an Easter table setting so stay tuned.

DIY rolled hem napkins

I found about a half of a yard of this floral linen fabric in my stash recently. I have no idea where is came from or when I got it. It’s not my usual style. A little too Traditional/French Country. However, I really liked the colors, but because I only had a half of a yard I was limited as to what I could make. That’s when I decided that some DIY rolled hem napkins would be the perfect project.

They turned out better that I expected, and they were very easy to make. Almost as easy as making pillows. I made mine using my brother 1034D serger, and watched this video. Each napkin only takes about 5 minuets…easy peasy! I made 4 of these because that was all the fabric I had enough for. Each napkin is 16″ x 16″, and they seem a little small. Dinner napkins range in size. They can be anywhere from 16″ square to 22″ square. I’m not sure I need a napkin 22″ x 22″, but next time I would go maybe 20″ x20″.

Fabric

I recommend using linen or a cotton fabric for your napkins. It’s the easiest to sew and makes nice napkins. I made some palm print napkins that I am going to share next week for my Easter table setting. I bought some really nice navy, red and white linen from Fabric.com and I’m going to make some fun napkin project with it. Next up I’m going to try cocktail napkins and maybe some placements.

Napkin Rings

The napkins rings are another quick and easy project. I made them out of a piece of leather strap and some gold double capped rivets. Seriously very easy, and fast. I’ll do a post about this so you can see how easy it really is.

This project is really fun because you can get really creative, and it’s also a very easy project for a beginner sewing. If sewing is not your thing I’ve linked some similar options below.
