One Dress, Three Looks: Styling a Boho Dress for Every Occasion

Boho Dress

One of my favorite things about handmade clothing is getting to create pieces that feel effortless but still turn heads. This one-shoulder boho dress is exactly that relaxed, flowy, and super easy to throw on and style again and again.

Whether I’m out running errands, grabbing brunch, or spending the day by the water, this dress makes getting dressed a no-brainer. So today I’m showing you three different ways I styled it to prove just how versatile one dress can be.

Look 1: Errands

Just because you’ve got errands to run doesn’t mean you have to leave the house looking like a total mess—we’ve all been there. You need to dash to the store, but you’re still in last night’s sweats with a pizza stain front and center.

No judgment. That’s where this easy one-piece boho dress comes in. It’s super comfy (no buttons, no zippers), so you can toss it on and instantly look put together. Slip on some flat sandals or flip-flops, grab a crossbody bag, throw on your sunglasses to cover the no-makeup situation—and don’t forget the MVP accessory: noise-canceling headphones.

Why? Because when you spot that chatty neighbor, the school mom you try to avoid, or—worst case—a co-worker, you can just smile, wave, point to your headphones, and keep it moving.

Style Tips:

This look reminds me why I love handmade pieces—they’re not just for dressing up. They’re for everyday life, too.

Look 2: Brunch & the Farmers Market

For a laid-back outing like a long, boozy brunch with friends, I made a few simple styling tweaks to pull the look together. The best part? This dress is unbelievably comfortable—no matter how many bites or cocktails you indulge in, it won’t feel tight or restrictive. So yes, go ahead and order that third Bloody Mary!

Style Tips:

  • I added a matching shoulder tie that instantly elevates the look of the dress.
  • Comfy platform slides mine are old but found a similar pair here and immediately ordered them.
  • A neutral tote bag with bamboo handles ties the look together. I made this bag and you can check out the tutorial here or purchase a similar  style here and here.
  • Add a fun statement ring or earring and you are good to go. I wear this one with this dress. I have it in navy, but the periwinkle or aqua would look great too.

This version feels effortless but polished. It’s the kind of outfit that looks like you tried… but not too hard.

Look 3: Beach Day

This dress is incredibly versatile—it’s perfect for the beach, too. Picture yourself lounging under an umbrella on a chaise lounge, book in one hand, glass of bubbles in the other, effortlessly chic. With its laid-back elegance, this boho beauty looks like it was made for the Riviera!

Style Tips:

This look is perfect for running errands, brunch with the gals or a day at the beach. It’s proof that comfort and style don’t have to compete.
