Personalized Birthday Party Gift Bags

Personalized Gift Bags for a Spa Themed Birthday Party

We recently celebrated my daughter’s 8th birthday…about three weeks late.  It happens.every.year.  Just when the holiday madness has died down, we jump right into birthday parties, which I inevitably put off planning until the last minute.  Hence the delayed party.

Both of my kids are February babies with birthdays 9 days apart.  So not only is February a short month, but a busy one at that.  Throw in February school break with a trip to Florida to visit all the grandparents, and well, the month just flies by.  Then I’m usually scrambling around to pull something together.  It was so much easier when my kids were little.  I used to be able to get a away with one party for the two of them. Unfortunately, those days are long gone *sigh*

My daughter decided she wanted a “spa themed” party.  So, I made these cute personalized gift bags for her friends.  These are great little gift bags and can be personalized for any type of party.  I sometimes use them as the “wrapping paper” for gifts my daughter gives when she goes to birthday parties.  I’ll put the kid’s name on the bag and put the gift inside.

I love monograms and anything personalized.  I have made a few other personalized projects on here on the blog.  You can check them out below.

How to Make Personalized Gift Bags

These personalized birthday party gift bags were made these using a Cricut vinyl cutter. Don’t worry, you don’t need to go out and buy a vinyl cutter to make theses.  You can use iron-on letters.  You can find them at Joann’sMichael’sAmazon or almost any other craft store you can think of.  They come in a lot of different colors and styles so you can get very creative with your project.

I used the vinyl adhesive product that Cricut makes.  They have iron-on options as well, but I went with what I had on hand.

It’s a simple process.  You create your monogram using the Cricut Design center app and then cut it out using your Cricut.  It’s very easy.  Then, peel off the excess vinyl.  Next take your transfer tape and adhere it to the front of your letters.  Then place it where you want it on your bag, press down to make sure it’s stuck to the bag, then slowly peel the transfer tape off.  That’s it – super easy.

Iron-On Option

If you choose to use iron-on letters the process is even easier!  Just pick out whatever letters you need and, following the instructions on the package, use your iron to adhere the letters to your bag.

Let the bag cool for a few minutes and you are done!  We filled our bags with nail polish and a small manicure kit along with the flip flops.  We gave the girls the bags at the beginning of the party so they could wear the flip flops while they had their toes painted.

Materials for Personalized Gift Bags

I purchased the bags on Amazon.  They measure 11.5″ x 13.5″.  They come in a bunch of different sizes.  We opted for the bigger ones because we were giving each of the girls a pair of flip flops and some other “spa” related treats we picked up at the dollar store.  I spent a little extra on the bags to be sure they were good quality.  Some of the bags that look similar are poor quality according to the reviews and fell apart after one use.  I wanted to be sure the girls could use the bags after the party so I opted for the more expensive option, and they were still only about $2/bag.

The bags were a huge hit!  Everyone loved that their name was on the bag and they can use them for all sorts of other things.

The great thing about this project is that it could be used for any type of party.  You could make them for a baby shower, wedding shower, bachelorette party or maybe as a bridesmaid gift and put all sorts of fun things it.  They are so versatile your options are endless!

Thanks for reading. Hope you’re off to a great week!
