Bright Floral Skirt

Bright Floral Skirt // Everyone Needs Kate Spade Tablecloths

How is it September? It’s crazy how time works. Some days seem like they will never end, and then you look at the calendar and Summer is over. Summer may almost be over but it’s hot here in NJ and I still have plenty of summer skirts and dresses to tell you about. I’m sure other style bloggers are already pitching all the great Fall clothing they are buying/making, but I’m not there yet. Maybe by the end of September if it’s not still 90 degrees we”ll start talking about Fall clothes. However, today I want to gush about this great bright floral skirt.

Fabric – Bright Floral Skirt

So, yeah its another Kate Spade tablecloth. I would be lying if I said this is my favorite print, but I love them all so much I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite. I love how big the flowers are. I thought about making a mini skirt like one of these, but wouldn’t do the print justice.

I bought this tablecloth on Amazon, as I have mentioned in my other Kate Spade posts here, here, and here they have the best selection. I always buy the biggest size which is 60″ x 120″. This gives me more than enough fabric to make a dress or a big twirly skirt with fabric left over. You can also find them at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Ebay.

Pattern – Bright Floral Skirt

This pattern is self drafted. I created it when I altered this skirt. I love the flounce and the way the skirt fits. I have made this skirt two other times here and here, and I love the way they both turned out. It doesn’t seem to matter what type of fabric I use. It always looks good. I’m sure you’ll see more of this silhouette this Fall and Winter.

So my 11 year old son has been taking pictures for me recently. As a proud parent, I have to say for a novice he is knocking it out of the park! He took this photo with the branch and thought it looked so cool. He was standing under a tree taking pictures and he said to me the branch was in his way. So I said okay take a step to the side. Then he said “well it looks kind of cool through the lense so I’ll take one and see”. We both really liked how it turned out. He seems to have a good eye so who knows he might have a future in photography.

I know the photos from last few posts haven’t been the best, but we are working out the kinks and I think this next round turned out really nice. I’m really proud of him!

Styling

The best part about this skirt is that I can wear my FAVORITE shoes with it. These awesome shoes that I bought on MAJOR sale at Anthropologie a few years ago. I wrote about it here. I don’t consider myself a trendy person, meaning it doesn’t matter to me what season these shoes came out in. I plan on wearing them forever, because I think they are fabulous!

So, I didn’t want to wear the same white tank top I wore here and here so I threw on a white sweater and a different tank tank. Talk about changing it up right :). This also led me to buy some new white “dressy” shirts. I like making colorful skirts and most of the time some sort of white top is what looks best. So we’ll see how they work out.

Anyway, back to styling. I wore a different white tank top, a white cardigan and white sandals from J. Crew. I bought this pink belt from Amazon and was planning on using it for another outfit I never ended up making, but it looked great with this skirt so win-win.

Thanks for reading. Happy September! Hope you are having a good week.
