Small Bag, Big Personality
There’s something about a wool bag that just feels right for fall. But while I love a classic autumn neutral, sometimes a girl needs a little color. Enter this ridiculously cheerful mini wool tote.
It has all the cozy charm of a traditional wool bag, just with a little more personality. The vibrant pink, pops of orange, and subtle blue make it anything but predictable. Paired with jeans and a simple sweater, it does all the heavy lifting in the outfit department. Which is exactly what I expect from an accessory.
And yes, I made it.
The Making Of
The construction is fairly straightforward, which is always a bonus when the fabric is already doing most of the talking.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Front and back panels: 15″ × 8″ each
- Gusset: 29″ × 4″
- Seam allowance: ½” throughout
- Interfacing: Fusible interfacing for both the exterior fabric and lining
- Straps: Genuine leather, purchased from this Etsy vendor
- Hardware: Gold rivets and a snap closure, installed using my KAMsnaps press
I purchased the gorgeous wool plaid from Harris Tweed Scotland on Etsy. The leather straps and gold hardware give it a polished finish that makes it feel a little less crafty and a lot more boutique.

A Little Fall Color
What I especially love about this bag is that it’s undeniably fall without looking like it belongs in a pumpkin patch. The wool brings the texture and warmth, while the bright plaid keeps everything fresh and fun.
It’s the kind of accessory that makes an otherwise ordinary jeans-and-sweater outfit look intentional.
And sometimes, that’s really all you need.
